According to SWI, “there are are almost one million people living with some form of disability in Switzerland – that's around one in seven of the population.”
Our commitment to accessibility is deeply embedded in our design system. We have documented accessibility requirements and goals throughout our component pages and guidelines. These standards are not only embedded in our design and code, but also discussed during the design process. This page serves as a valuable resource to grasp the accessibility standards applied across our MDX guidelines, providing you with a reference point to continuously verify and ensure accessibility throughout the design and development phases.
WCAG Levels
The Web Accessibility Initiative has established three levels with various requirements, also called success critierias, to make websites and digital products usable by a wide range of people with different accessibility challenges. MDX is aiming to achieve Level AA. Read up on the WCAG and WAI here.

For Level A conformance (the minimum level of conformance), the Web page satisfies the bare minimum accessibility standards, including keyboard navigation, non-text alternatives for icons, responsive design and video captions.

For Level AA conformance, both Level A and Level AA criteria are met. This includes a color contrast ratio of 4.5:1, alt texts for all images & videos, proper typography tag hierarchy, form field labels, etc.

For Level AAA conformance, the Web page satisfies all the Level A, Level AA and Level AAA Success Criteria. WCAG does not recommend Level AAA conformance be required as a general policy for entire sites because it is not possible to satisfy all Level AAA Success Criteria for some content.
Types of Accessibility Challenges:

- Mobility impairments
- Seizure risks
- Cognitive and learning disabilities
