Design tokens present values that work together to create a specific style. Themes enable us to switch between themes, e.g. light and dark mode, with a single set of token. For instances, by naming a token primary.color, distinct values can be attributed to it within the light theme and contrasting ones within the dark theme.
Further, tokens allow us to not only change between themes but also change between different brands by overriding common components with brand specific styles to meet brand requirements.
